PAGLISAN

5 dead, 14 hurt in bus explosion along EDSA

Headline for the day. So cruel. So there goes life. Taken swiftly, quickly, harshly. Oh how safe this haven on earth is! >.<

I was on my way to school, aboard a bus. Instead of being bothered by the heavy traffic that almost always costs me my peace of mind, I focused my attention to the news flash on TV. Whether it was unang hirit or magandang umga Pilipinas, there seemed to be nothing good about the morning. The news made me cry while it caused paranoia to the majority of the public who are used to mass transportations through PUVs like buses and trains.

Life is just unfair...

Paalam mga minamahal ko
At patawad sa aking dagliang paglisan
Kung may magagawa lamang ako,
Di ko kayo iiwan.

Marahil sadyang ganun ang buhay;
May misteryong tangan at taglay.
Kahit gaano ka kaingat sa paglalakbay
Paminsan-minsan, sumasablay.

Alam kong masakit, at maaaring di tanggap
Aking pagpanaw malayo sa hinagap
Batid kong lubos ang inyong paghihirap...
Ah, sayang, bata pa ako, madami pa akong pangarap!

Let us continue praying for the repose of the soul of the victims.
May the evil never win.
To God be the glory.

TOM, JERRY, and OGGY, Too?!

Add VideoMickey, Minnie, Eensy, Who? I love cartoons! I love the colors (think about multi-hued Disney characters) , the possibility of impossibility (imagine defying gravity - when it would take time for a character falling off a cliff to actually fall because he realizes too late that he must fall), the speedy recovery (as if pencils are always available to erase and re-sketch a character when damaged), the happiness (experience entertainment to the max), the dynamism (tediously-produced, one cartoon show actually corresponds to a number of frames specifying unique actions/poses, and you just got to love the big chase!).

I love cartoons! When I am not outside capturing life on camera, or reading fiction, or people watching, I enjoy watching cartoons for entertainment. When I was younger, I was fond of Donald Duck, Mickey, Minnie and their company. Then there was Cedi and Princess Sarah and Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and Doraemon. Getting older, I was introduced to anime with Hanamichi Sakuragi and Ghostfighter and The Last Airbender and Dragonball Z. Uncle Jackie Chan and Ben 10 came later in life. The dynamic duo, Tom and Jerry, has been our family's all-time favorite for three generations now. Then lately, I met Oggy and the Cockroaches. I can name other characters I have met along the way, and though I may not remember them all, I am sure that deep within, I know them well. Besides, each one possesses unique characteristics (much like individual human differences) :)

I love cartoons! But how do I love them? I do not buy cartoon-designed items. (Going back in time, I remember my friends being addicted to Looney Toon characters, going crazy over shirts, notebooks, mugs and the like. I joined the bandwagon for a while favoring Taz because everyone was either a Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird or Marvin the Martian fanatic.) I do not regularly watch cartoon shows (because even if I would like to, i cannot). I do not even memorize their names (except for a few characters). So how do I love them? I simply let them make me happy. Their colorful, wonderful lives fill my idle moments with glee and fun.

I love cartoons. It is amazing to witness how they developed into better forms through time. Starting with black and white comics, to slide shows, to digitized, moving images to 3D animations. Wow! They have also gone from regular editions, to regular time slots in TV channels, to celebrated theater movies. I can lose count of those I have watched. But I can certainly remember how those have provided for opportunities for art (err technology ) appreciation, enjoy down time, to bond with family, to dwell in life's simplicity, to learn life lessons. Those who consider them apt only for kids are absolutely missing more than laugh-out-loud moments!

I am ending this piece with the following quotations. May you enjoy and learn from them. :)

"The most active thing about me is my imagination" ~ Garfield
>talk about capitalizing on your abilities and talents haha!

"Why do they always want to do it the hard way?" ~Wile E. Coyote
>yes, simplicity is beauty

"People talk loud when they want to sound smart, right?"~ Squidward
>ergo, silent water runs deep...

"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out alive." ~Bugs Bunny
>chillax. have fun. live life! ;D
